These are the same people who’ve been working together through hundreds of kitchen tear-outs, roof replacements, and ADU slab pours across South Bay. What holds them together is a straightforward agreement: show up on time, write down what you found, and don’t start work until the customer has a price in writing. Grant Rowan, Owner

I started Rowan Construction Group in 2007 after watching too many homeowners get halfway through a remodel and discover the price they’d been quoted was just an opening bid. Before Haven acquired us, I’d already delivered about 2,800 projects with a personal rule: no work starts without a written flat price and a written scope. The Haven Standard put that rule into system form, Clause 1 through 6, and gave us the administrative backbone to keep projects within a few percent of the original number. I still walk jobs weekly, usually with a camera and a notepad, because the photo record we deliver to customers is only as good as the person taking it. Last spring I caught a membrane gap on a Bonita bathroom remodel that the crew had missed on first pass. We fixed it before tile went up, documented the correction, and the customer never would have known if I hadn’t mentioned it in the final walkthrough. That’s the job.

Mike T., Lead Technician

Mike has been with us since 2014, which in construction years means he’s seen three market cycles and about 600 projects from demo to final punch list. He’s our roofing and windows lead, GAF-certified and Owens Corning preferred, though he’ll tell you the certification that matters most is the one he earned the hard way: knowing when a Chula Vista roof deck is too compromised for a layover and needs full tear-off. Mike grew up in Imperial Beach and still surfs dawn patrol at Silver Strand before jobs in the western neighborhoods. His truck is the one with the banged-up longboard rack and the organized bin system for flashing samples. Homeowners in Rancho del Rey still ask for him by name from a roof we did in 2019.

Dana R., Senior Installer

Dana runs our kitchen and bathroom crews, with a specialty in cabinet install and countertop templating that she developed working directly with KraftMaid and Wellborn reps during the supply-chain chaos of 2021-2022. She knows which cabinet boxes ship with face-frame misalignments and how to correct them in the field without delaying the Cambria or Caesarstone install scheduled for Thursday. Dana’s detail work is almost excessive, she’ll admit, but she’s also the person who found a leaking dishwasher supply line behind a cabinet toe-kick in a Terra Nova kitchen that three other contractors had quoted without opening. In her off hours she restores mid-century furniture and brings that same joinery precision to every crown return and scribe cut on site.

Jesse V., Service Coordinator

Jesse answers the phone when you call, and he’s the one who makes sure Mike or Dana has the full file, photo history, and material order confirmed before they leave the yard. He joined us in 2019 after managing dispatch for a commercial HVAC outfit downtown, and he brought a discipline we didn’t know we needed: every customer gets a text when the crew is en route, a photo summary within two hours of departure, and a follow-up call 48 hours after completion. Jesse lives in Chula Vista proper, near Hilltop Drive, and he knows which permits pull same-day versus which need the extended plan check at the city. He’s also the person who will tell you honestly if your project timeline doesn’t match your expectations, because he’d rather reset them on the phone than with a surprise delay email.

Carlos M., Apprentice

Carlos is in his second year with us, rotating through trades on a structured program that Haven developed after acquiring Rowan. Right now he’s with Dana on kitchens, learning cabinet leveling and the critical sequence of plumbing rough-in before backer board before tile. He’s already passed his OSHA-30 and is working toward his C-36 plumbing classification. Carlos grew up in San Ysidro and commutes up the 805 every morning, usually early enough to beat the bridge traffic. He asks more questions than some foremen appreciate, but Dana specifically requested him after he pointed out a mismatched grout lot number on a Bonita bathroom that would have left a shade variation across the shower floor. That kind of attention doesn’t come from memorizing a manual. It comes from caring whether the work holds up.
